Insurance premium for productions under the NFB is calculated as 1% of Insurable Earnings.
Insurable Earnings are made up of all performer earnings accrued/paid during the production, up to a maximum of $100,000 per performer.
Premium payment is automatically administered through major production payroll houses, which will calculate and remit the required premium monthly. Producers should confirm coverage with their payroll house.
AFBS and ACTRA have worked with the major administration production payroll houses to make premium payment a seamless part of the existing insurance and retirement remittance process.
The federally regulated NFB is excluded from provincial and territorially workers' compensation providers. Accordingly, Accident on Set protects all performers when working under ACTRA collective agreements for the NFB. Accident on Set coverage is automatically extended to all productions for all eligible ACTRA performers.
No application is required.
