Offshore Productions

When offshore, Engagers must protect ACTRA performers from on-the-job injuries by providing Accident on Set insurance as required by the National Commercial Agreement (NCA).

The Accident on Set insurance program underwrites and provides health, disability and accident coverage in the event a performer becomes injured in an accident occurring on the set of an insured production. Upon application and acceptance by AFBS, this coverage may be extended to countries outside of Canada. The Accident on Set program only covers the period-of-time the performer is on set and/or travelling to and from set.

When the production is offshore, Out-of-Canada Travel Emergency Medical Insurance is made available through the Accident on Set program for ACTRA performers only, working outside of Canada.

Note: Accident on Set covers ACTRA performers only. If a production has performers that belong to an organization other than ACTRA, the production may wish to secure workers’ compensation/Accident on Set comparable insurance (paid by production). You can contact don_sinclair@ajg.com at Arthur J. Gallagher Co. who has assembled a program which can accommodate offshore productions.

Out-of-Canada Travel Emergency Medical Insurance

To ensure the medical assistance needs of the travelling ACTRA performer will be covered in the event of a medical emergency outside of Canada, Accident on Set has facilitated a 24/7, travel emergency medical program through Arthur J. Gallagher Co. (Gallagher), which has been designed to cover ACTRA performers on all offshore NCA productions. Coverage is by application and once the application is accepted by Gallagher, the Accident on Set program will absorb the full premium cost.

Note: Accident on Set will cover the premium cost for ACTRA performers only. If a production has performers that belong to an organization other than ACTRA, the production will need to secure travel emergency medical cover (paid by production) with Gallagher or another insurance company/broker. This is outside the scope of the Accident on Set program and is not paid by AFBS.

Disclaimer: Please note this program does not include dependant coverage or Visitors to Canada coverage and cannot be used to cover foreign workers who have travelled into Canada
