Alberta

Performers and stunt coordinators are covered by the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) of Alberta and are not eligible for Accident on Set coverage.

Stunt performers are not covered by the WCB of Alberta and Accident on Set coverage is required.

A performer’s classification as a stunt coordinator or stunt performer must be determined before production begins.

Generally, WorkSafeBC covers all performers. UBCP/ACTRA may require Accident on Set coverage for Low Budget/Deferral Productions. Please visit the UBCP/ACTRA website to learn more and for information on their Ultra-Low Budget (ULB) Program, including 40 Under Indie, Student ULB and Standard ULB Programs.

The Accident on Set program covers all performers including those under the stunt category as well as those who are working on Low Budget/Deferral Productions. The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of Manitoba coverage is optional for all performers, which means you have the choice between the WCB of Manitoba and Accident on Set.

Generally, Workers' Safety & Compensation Commission (WSCC) of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut covers all performers. The Accident on Set program is available when WSCC of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut does not cover performers. Coverage can also be made available for Low Budget/Deferral Productions.

Ontario

The Accident on Set program covers all performers, including those in the stunt category. The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) specifically excludes stunt performers.

When insuring under Accident on Set, all performers must be insured, including those in the stunt category. If you have determined that Accident on Set coverage is appropriate for your production and you wish to apply for coverage, the Producer should complete a WSIB Form 0095C to opt out ALL performers from WSIB coverage in its entirety as a first step.

Generally, the Workers' Safety and Compensation Board Yukon covers all performers. The Accident on Set program is available when the Workers' Safety and Compensation Board Yukon does not cover performers. Coverage can also be made available for Low Budget/Deferral Productions.

Student Productions

If you are a student initiating a Low Budget Production and your eligible ACTRA and UBCP/ACTRA performers are not covered under your school’s insurance policy, Accident on Set is available and mandatory.

Please note that it is the responsibility of the production also to obtain general liability insurance. Contact your ACTRA or UBCP/ACTRA representative for more information.

Film Schools

Film schools that wish to cover their student productions can do so by purchasing Accident on Set coverage for either the entire year or individual semester(s).

Your ACTRA, UBCP/ACTRA Branch may require that you have workers' compensation or equivalent coverage for your ACTRA, UBCP/ACTRA performers in order to comply with the IPA agreement. Please contact your ACTRA or UBCP/ACTRA representative for details.

Premium for the Accident on Set insurance program will depend on the duration of coverage. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the program administrator.
