Benefits Information for Producers and Performers

  Accident Benefits – Part 1

LOSS OR LOSS OF USE (including death)
Coverage is provided after the submission of medical proof of loss or loss of use due to an injury sustained from a qualifying accident on set.

Benefit Amount

up to $500,000 – under age 65
up to $250,000 – between ages 65 and 69
up to $125,000 – between ages 70 and 74

 

Except additional background performers and the parent/guardian of a minor child where the benefit amount is:
up to $50,000 – under age 65
up to $25,000 – between ages 65 and 69
up to $12,500 – between ages 70 and 74

 

The Benefit Amount payable is determined by the Schedule of Losses

Benefit Payment

When a qualifying accident on set causes an injury directly resulting in a covered loss or loss of use within 365 days; notice and satisfactory written proof of loss or loss of use must be submitted within 90 days of the occurrence.

Single Benefit Limitation

The maximum total amount payable is limited to the largest benefit for which the insured performer is eligible under Part 1.

Aggregate Limit of Indemnity

The total limit of liability for all benefits payable under Part 1 combined for all injured performers as a result of injuries sustained in any one accident is $10,000,000.00.

Termination of Benefits

Benefits terminate at age 75.

The total benefit amount payable is limited to the single largest loss.

Repatriation Benefit

If an injury results in loss of life within Canada but outside the performer's usual Canadian residence within 365 days of the accident on set, the actual expenses incurred will be paid for the following:

  • Preparing the deceased for burial or cremation;
  • Shipment of the deceased's body to his/her usual place of residence;
  • Maximum benefit is $10,000.

Assumption

Death will be assumed if the body is not found within 365 days after the mode of transportation sinks, makes a forced landing or is lost, wrecked or stranded.
