Weekly Income Replacement Benefit

The Weekly Income Replacement Benefit (WIRB) is designed for eligible performers and stunt performers who can provide medical proof of Temporary Total Disability after being injured on a set location on an Accident on Set insured production. You will be considered temporarily totally disabled if you can demonstrate that you are disabled and cannot undertake the material duties of any occupation for which is reasonably fitted by your training, education or experience and throughout the period of such disability you are under the prudent care of a licensed physician.

Benefit Details

Once your Temporary Total Disability has been confirmed and determined to be a result of the filed on-set location accident, you will receive:

Benefit Payment

70% of your eligible earnings for the 24-month period immediately preceding the accident on set divided by 104.

Maximum Benefit Period

Up to five years or when you turn 75, whichever comes first.

Taxable Status

Benefit payments are taxable because they are considered income.

Maximum Benefit

Up to $2,000 per week, unless you are either an additional background performer or the parent/guardian of a minor child, in which case you may receive a maximum benefit of up to $500 per week.

If you are in receipt or expect to receive disability benefits from other sources, you must advise AFBS. All disability benefits combined from all sources must not exceed 85% of your pre-disability eligible earnings.

If you are in receipt of disability benefits from other sources, AFBS will calculate your benefit entitlement through the Accident on Set program in accordance with all sources maximum provision.

Commencement

From the date of the accident.

 

Once a claim has been approved, you will be paid every two weeks upon AFBS receiving, as required, of satisfactory medical proof of your continuing Temporary Total Disability.

Entitlement to any eligible Accident on Set benefits payments requires that as the injured performer, you release the Producer from any liability as a result of an injury you sustain working on a set location on their Accident on Set-insured production by signing a release and waiver. The Accident on Set administrator will provide the release and waiver form, as well as any disability claim forms that may be required to assess your injury.
